The Kimi fig owes its uniqueness to the micro-climate and the soil of our region.

Its most distinct aspect is the fine skin that makes it softer compared to other sundried figs. An exceptionally healthy choice as a daily boost to your breakfast, during a break or after a meal! Except for its unquestionable sweet taste and energy value, the sundried fig contains a wealth of beneficial nutrients. It’s a rich source of soluble fiber – therefore helping reduce LDL cholesterol – and minerals such as potassium (K), magnesium (Mg) and calcium (Ca). Additionally, its antioxidant value is comparable to that of grapes. No wonder why the fig is met throughout the Mediterranean diet, as an ingredient in cooking as well as in pastry making!

 Organic Arbutus Honey

The first pistachio trees came to the island of Aegina in the late 19th century and many more were planted between 1920 and 1940, once their ability to adapt to the soil and be productive became apparent. The pistachio, called  fistiki Aeginis in Greek, was a major factor in bolstering the local economy and even now its contribution to the income of Aegina households is sizeable, whether through cultivation, packaging or trading. Most important has been its role in maintaining the island's character by preventing the wholesale construction of land that would have turned the island into another suburd of Athens.

Corinth raisins are tiny, black dried fruits, packed full of flavour and nutrition. Cultivated in the South of Greece, the name comes from the ancient city of “Corinth”. They are known as “Zante currants” in the States, Zante currants – Corinth raisins – Corinthian raisins or simply currants in the UK and Ireland.

There are three different types of dried grapes; currants, sultanas and raisins.  Currants are dried, dark red, seedless grapes.  Raisins are dried white grapes.  Sultanas are dried white grapes from seedless cultivars.

All three are produced around the world; Corinth raisins (or currants) are only produced in Greece.

Greece in terms of apicultural interest,is a country with unique singularities  and great apicultural tradition and know-how:

  • It is placed among one of the wealthiest in biodiversity countries in vegetation with a significant percentage of indigenous plants that we cannot find anywhere else in the world (it is calculated that 18% of our country’s entire plant life is indigenous). If we take into account the relatively small size  of plantation square coverage of our country the above number are impressive.
  • Our climate varies form dry-hot to moist and rainy, with relatively mild winters and rather  large periods of sunshine in the greatest part of our country. In other words the climatic conditions are ideal for the development of apiculture.
  • The geographical landscape constantly changes form valleys and fields to hills, mountains and islands,a pattern that is very difficult to find in other countries.
  • The biodiversity of plantation where in many cases, plants & trees from different terrains co-exists in the same regions, thus giving the honey you collect special flavors and odors.
  • The rather high level of experience & expertise that Greek beekeepers carry and pass on,from generation to generation while continuously improving and developing their skills.
