It can work together with one or two RF Attenuator modules bought separately. Each RF Attenuator module provides 0-31 dB of attenuation range. Use Jumper J5 to select 0-31 or 0-62 dB range.

If you have a PICKIT you can download the MPLAB IDE and alter anything you need on the code. A JTAG port is provided on the PCB, just above the rotary encoder.

The MCU supports 0-31 dB control range with one RF attenuator module, or 0-62 dB  control range with 2 RF attenuator modules. Upon power-on, it starts at 0 dB. Then the rotary encoder controls the attenuation value, the MCU controls the PE4306 chip of the displayed value and then stops sending data in order to reduce any RFI to other circuits. The push-button, inside the rotary encoder, changes between 1 dB or 10 dB steps.

MCU Module to control one or two RF Attenuator PCBs


This small PCB incorporates an MCU (PIC24FJ32GA104), a rotary encoder, a 3.3V voltage regulator, a 0.96" OLED and 2 connectors for connecting 2 RF attenuator modules (see above). The idea is to make an independent digital RF attenuator with it's own user interface. 

A ready built & tested module as shown in the assembled PCB photo, including the 2 SMA connectors is available at EUR 17.60.

RF step Attenuator

SPI Module for your MCU/Arduino etc.


Based on the Peregrine Semiconductor's PE4306 chip, this module is a complete RF 0-31 dB attenuator with 1 dB steps, for 50 ohm systems on a 20 x 31 mm PCB and has a universal SPI interface. It draws under 100 uA at 3VDC and no negative voltage is required for it's operation since the chip has an internal negative voltage generator.
